The Desire for the Journey

We walk the paths in the journey of our artistic lives. It doesn't matter how far a person has gone, or if even if the way has been lost, as long as the passion, the love and the joy are still there we believe that every moment is a step forward. The desire to keep walking is all that matters and all that is required.

Empty Your Cup

We believe in humbling oneself, putting the ego aside, and always keeping an open mind. It does not matter how much a person learns or how much his or her skill has developed, there is always a chance to learn something new even from the most novice seeming.

The teacup is the symbol of Itadaki. The only way to taste the tea of another person is to empty your cup.

The Itadaki Forum is all about cultivating this.

books on anatomy

Has anyone here used books to help them draw better human anatomy? For that matter, has anyone ever used a drawing guide or how-to book? Did it help? Do share.

I picked up Anatomy for the Artist a while back and it really is a great resource. Plenty of images of nude models plus translucent pages over some of the figures displaying the shape the skeleton is underneath.

I do have a few 'How to' books and they have their use as well, though I only ever bought myself one, which is Action! Cartooning by Ben Caldwell. It just jumped out at me while looking through a bookstore one day. It has great emphasis on dynamic positions and creative anatomy. 'How to' books though only go so far depending on your learning style. I'm much more of a kinetic learner so they tend to not be as useful to me.

Get what you think you'll need, but don't forget there are plenty of tutorials for free on the net. Manga Revolution and Deviant Art both have tutorials in abundance that are VERY helpful for specific trouble areas, MR being organized so that they're easy to find too!

Hope this helps ^_^

It does help, so thank you. I'm still trying to decide which ones to get for now. You showed me more books to choose from, but I think I'm closer to making narrowing it down.

The Anatomy for the Artist that Narffet suggested it great, I bought it for Azsura for Christmas and it was well worth it.

I don't really use books too much myself, but I do like using PoseManiacs, while not exactly for anatomy, it does help with it a little, as well as posing.

I like that Posemaniacs. But on a personal level I REALLY like the 30-second sketch app it has. I've a LOT of bad habits I need to unlearn >.<

My, that 30-sec app thing is incredibly neat... I don't draw by the computer anymore but I would solely to do these exercises.
