The Desire for the Journey

We walk the paths in the journey of our artistic lives. It doesn't matter how far a person has gone, or if even if the way has been lost, as long as the passion, the love and the joy are still there we believe that every moment is a step forward. The desire to keep walking is all that matters and all that is required.

Empty Your Cup

We believe in humbling oneself, putting the ego aside, and always keeping an open mind. It does not matter how much a person learns or how much his or her skill has developed, there is always a chance to learn something new even from the most novice seeming.

The teacup is the symbol of Itadaki. The only way to taste the tea of another person is to empty your cup.

Comics you were excited for but ended up disappointed.

Any comics you heard about, but ended up just no longer collecting or getting disappointed with?

Lullaby, a fairytale style comic, was one I was really excited about. However it was sort of hard to follow and the art style was a little distracting.

Sonic the Hedgehog; Archie Comics. It just went downhill. It wasn't the best comic, but many of it's stories in the early 1-50 range were really great. Now it's like they don't even know their own characters anymore, and some of the direction and design just went a little overboard.

Battle Chasers, only because it was never finished. And Madeuira has no intention of finishing.

Rival Schools; Udon Comics. If anyone knows me, it's that I am a die-hard Rival Schools fan. This was MY fighting game back in the day. When I heard a comic was coming out, I was ecstatic. I even bought a Summer Special preview, drawn by Dogan. Arnold Tsang also worked on it. Omar Dogan draws the BEST Rival Schools work, it looks like it popped right out of the game. Unfortunately, Udon saw the comic as a loss, and didn't want to spend the money on the comic. So they got Corey 'Reyyy' Lewis to do the comic, and it turned into a black and white only comic. The direction was bad, things were put into it that didn't belong (a kid in the hallway with a Naruto headband, a guy named 'Sasuke') and the artstyle was terribly bad at times. This is by far, the biggest disappointment in comics to me.

The Amory Wars

The comic that the Coheed and Cambria albums are based on, written by the lead singer Claudio Sanchez. It's okay, but the art could be a lot better, the writing is all over the place, and it generally doesn't feel like it lives up to the albums themselves. The albums make the story sound like an epic, painful love/apocalypse story. The comics read like a Star Wars rip off.

Oh, man Battle Chasers was exciting, and it did not let down! Except for the not being released on time and being canceled part, yeah that was hella disappointing. I could understand though, doing comics is very labor intensive and Joe Mad had life happen to him, what with having a baby at the time and all.

Other than that, there weren't very many comics that I was let down by. If I bought a comic because I like the art, I knew what I was getting into if the story sucked. As long as the art was good, it was gravy baby.

I do remember being disappointed by Earth X though. I had just read Kingdom Come, and I know I shouldn't be comparing the two, but I won't lie. I was expecting something like that. I think even if I wasn't, Earth X still would've sucked. It was just too damn weird, I didn't finish, I don't know maybe it redeemed itself? But damn, I was just like WTF is this? This isn't Marvel. Again I'm comparing, but at least Kingdom Come stayed true to the DC universe and character, well more so than Earth X!

I'm not as furious as Chevi is about the Rival schools comic. I like Corey's art and the comic he does, but I did have issues with Rival schools. One main beef is why would you put Naruto references in Rival Schools!? I know Corey's a Naruto fan and all, and it may seem harmless, but it isn't. I mean if your going to do something like that at least make is MUCH more subtle. The story seems typical Udon. Not the greatest story's in the world but they tell the Capcom story's nonetheless. The art I would have to say does not have terrible bad sequentials. It's understandable and fairly easy to follow so that's a plus. Quality of art, it has it's shining moments and also it's moment that made me wonder if he was rushing to make deadline.

Ooohh, I remember. I was pretty disappointed with C-23, or Jim Lee's C-23. That was nothing like I expected and I didn't like it. I don't think it lasted. I was so hyped about a new Jim Lee book, but then I found out that it wasn't Jim Lee doing the book. I don't know what his exact relation to the book was, I think maybe he just had the idea for it. Go wikipedia it or something if you interested.

That MU comic by ICE entertainment was disappointing.

For the most part the comics I've read are decent, good, or great. The comics that have been recommended to by were good, and the comics I pick out because of the art I know what to expect so there's no disappointment.
