True "Narutards" Ruin the Naruto Fandom

Postby Chevi on Wed Jul 09, 2008 11:34 am

I figured this was an interesting discussion, since it seems many of you are into Naruto. I believe really true "Narutards" are ruining the fandom.

I use to consider myself a bit of a Narutard, having not known why such a word was created. I had figured that haters of the anime/manga (who hated it for no reason) came up with the word as a way to make fun of it's fans.

I think now though, the word was created for the uber fans who live, breath, and talk Naruto, and wear the headbands in the mall.

I love Naruto, I really do, while it does have it's drawbacks (*cough*Sasuke*cough*) it's a decent manga, but a not so great anime (f-you fillers!) and I think some people only hate it because of it's fandom.

A few instances:

- Almost 80% of people with a Naruto-related name in their username on DA is an art thief who steals from Japanese Naruto fanartists, OR colors over (MS Paint style) other people's artwork on DA or screenshots. I have had this happen to 2 of my Naruto fanarts.

- Fans are batshit crazy. Someone's journal on DA was having a discussion on the manga, and I basically said I was tired of Sasuke's emofagness and he should die, so the rest of the series can actually be GOOD. The fangirl of the page (good artist...but now I know she's a crazy mo-fo) yelled at me, saying "So everyone who is sad and lonely should die a horrible death? What a great person you are..." UH HELLO, IT'S A F*CKING FICTIONAL CHARACTER! OMG.

- Yaoi. I HATE Naruto yaoi. I'm not telling anyone who DOES like it, quit it, but I don't want to see it. The only canon male/male pairing in that entire manga is Zabusa/Haku, because that was effin' sad! But I don't want to see yaoi at all. NarutoxSasuke makes me barf. And I'm tired of yaoi wapanese fangirls commenting on my Naruto het pairing images only to tell me yaoi is better. Those girls need to GET A LIFE.

What do you guys think?

-SPOILERS for those who haven't read past chapter 300?-

I might like Naruto, but I have only worn a headband to conventions, and the last one I went to I finally made a cosplay that wasn't a naruto esque character.

I, too, am sick of seeing all these creepy and disgusting pairings of Naruto characters. Okay we get it, people think "So" and "So" love eachother, but a LOT of them have been given away in the show. Personally, I believe that the original couples should not be tampered with, if any exist on an official level.

And yes, I am sick of seeing sasuke, half of the last 50 or so chapters have focused on him, and him only. Sure his fight with "You know who" was interesting, but the elaboration on it was just annoying. Jiraya died around 30-40 chapters ago and they are just NOW having people find out, wow, how sad.

And also, thank you Chevi for telling off the fillers, god damn, they were annoying. 100 freaking filler episodes after the fight with Naruto and Sasuke, jeez. And I stopped watching shippuden because it was taking far to long to get anywhere.

AND on another note, people who make Original Characters and replace, or form a relationship from another characters role in and Artist's webcomic. I have seen this time and time again. Unless you plan to do something remotely like a Kingdom Hearts story, do NOT add your character into the same area, place, location, or story as another Manga/Anime, it bugs the crap out of me. Sasuke isn't interested in your character, Naruto seems to be in love with Sakura, and vice versa, Hinata loves Naruto, Tenten likes Rock lee, Temari and Shikamaru have many bonding moments. The boys do not love any of the other boys and the same goes for the girls.

I hope everything I said came across as it should, and I hope to continue this discussion with you. ^^

A joke I used to tell my yaoi obsessed friends was,"Naruto yaoi makes me wanna go straight."

NarutoxSasuke is the worst by far, simply because it's the over done pairing of rivals, but also because the yaoi stories people come up with utterly destroy the personalities of the characters.

And of course, I love all of the Sasuke fangirls who think they're a minority amongst the fandom, when Sasuke has as many screechy stalkers outside the show as he does within it. He seriously needs to die, if only for the following reason:

*SPOILER ALERT*

Itachi sacrificed everything in his life to protect Sasuke and the Leaf Village. He took orders from the Third and the Elders to slaughter his entire family. Now Sasuke has utterly thrown away everything Itachi did for him by joining up with Itachi's basic arch-enemy, Darth Tobi, and is now out to destroy the Leaf Village.

Where is the sense in that?!?!

As for the fandom itself, it's infuriating. Especially all of the yaoi fangirls within the fandom.

Also, I shall be a NaruHina shipper for life.

I used to be hardcore into One Piece until it proved to be nothing BUT filler. I tend to shy away from most Jump comics anymore for about the same reason n.n;;

But yeah, rabid fans of any sort are nasty n.n You're forgetting very important facts:

1.) They're the only individuals who like the material properly

2.) Because of that they're the only ones who can form proper opinions on it

3.) If you ever disagree with them on anything, refer to #1 and restart this process until you no longer disagree.

They browbeat you into submission n.n;;

As for art thieves... well, they're just plain old thieves, aren't they? Doesn't matter what they like because its obvious they're just parasites anyway.

And as for any sexual doujinshi work... I've never really liked it when I could recognize the characters involved. Its not that the work was good/bad (I've seen amazing and I've seen horrible x3), but something about seeing a character you know ruins the sexual illusion of it all.

Did you just watch the anime though, or read the manga (manga doesn't have fillers =P). My brother and sister are really into One Piece, and they keep telling me to get into it, I pretty much trust their opinion because we all like the same things. But then every anime has their "filler arc" but I don't think one should stop getting into the series altogether.

I stopped wathing Naruto, but I still read Naruto. I like Dragon Ball Z, but I hate GT (which pretty much is ALL filler).

I just watched the anime, but yeah I can see where you might be coming from.

The reason why I quit One Piece is that I watched 250 episodes of it, and the last time they made any mention of achieving the goals of any of the characters was somewhere around episode 50. It was rapidly becoming a 'never-ending adventure' and I was through with it :/ I guess I'm just too into plot resolution x3;

Though I'll say its nice in that it has the characters gain strength and abilities but not through escalation ala DBZ (must... have... higher... arbitrary.... power... number...). It's hinted through whatever bounty is on a character's head but its still removed enough to not be, "IT'S OVER 9000!!!!!"

And GT is what happened when Toriyama jumped ship and they continued without him.

Oh, yeaah, see anime is never good at doing plot resolution, specially when it comes to Jump manga. So you should try reading the manga, both my siblings are caught up, but I think right now besides the constant travel, it's more about the character's relationships. I'm planning to get into it very soon.

I watched one episode of Naruto and read the first three volumes of the manga. The manga seemed alright, but I just never got around to reading more.

A few of my friends are kind of Narutards, but they aren't bad. But damn, going to a convention, the fandom is just effin' ridiculous. And in the end, I think what ruins Naruto (and anything else for that matter) are the Yaoi Fangirls.

They get so obsessed with pairings and fanfics and shit that they make it irritatingly unbearable to be around and sometimes to the point of hating the fandom entirely.

I'm not quite sure what to think of current Naruto fandom. I think its getting much more interesting, but this random character death is getting ridiculous.

WHOA. WHOA WHOA WHOA.

A girl. On the internet. Who DOESN'T like yaoi?

...It's like finding the lost city of Atlantis. ;-; I am so tired of yaoi fangirls. Had a friend in high school who could turn any comment, sentence, or even just a simple word into something to do with man x man sex. She was a great friend when we all first met her. By the time she graduated, I was glad I would never have to see her ever again.

Yeah, the Narutardism is what kills the series for other people. We have such incredibly poor examples of human beings who would kill someone at the drop of a hat if it meant getting some piece of Naruto goodies, or a sneak peek of the next five seconds of the newest episode. .-.

A girl after my own heart. I need to get back into reading One Piece. I'm so very far behind. But I was reading a Fire Emblem manga instead, since I was a big fan of the game series, and it gives the same sort of feeling that the games do when you play them. The end of each chapter even highlights a character and gives what their in-game stats would be. x3
