The Desire for the Journey

We walk the paths in the journey of our artistic lives. It doesn't matter how far a person has gone, or if even if the way has been lost, as long as the passion, the love and the joy are still there we believe that every moment is a step forward. The desire to keep walking is all that matters and all that is required.

Empty Your Cup

We believe in humbling oneself, putting the ego aside, and always keeping an open mind. It does not matter how much a person learns or how much his or her skill has developed, there is always a chance to learn something new even from the most novice seeming.

The teacup is the symbol of Itadaki. The only way to taste the tea of another person is to empty your cup.

The Itadaki Forum is all about cultivating this.

Take Street Fighter IV for example. I think it's ugly, I love the game don't get me wrong, but I wanted Third Strike HD Sprites. It kind of sucks that the new generation wants all these flashy graphics, and anything that isn't CG is rated in game magazines as "3 out of 5 for graphics, because they are outdated."

I swear if they decide to dock BlazBlue for having HD sprites instead of "ZOMG CG GOODNESS!" then reviewers need to seriously reconsider graphical presentation =/

Graphics have nothing to do with anything. :(

I love it when people say: "That game sucks, its graphics are terrible."

I apologize Variis for poking fun at you, but you know, you do talk about WoW alot! And you segway into WoW from conversations about anything, things not even close to WoW. Honestly, any of my WoW playing friends have ruined that I ever want to play WoW. I feel like as noob as I will be, you will all be trying to teach me things I don't want to be taught. And if I did something that went against you're playing style, it'd be like when Azrael was playing Resident Evil 4 (inside thing).

And I dunno Shizuki, I segway anything into almost anything. Just last week I segwayed Terminator into Carebears. Don't even ask me how. I also know how you feel about WoW, and why, so I just chuckled at that. :P

My argument is more akin to blaming the game for another's actions. I will fully admit that people get too obsessed with games, especially where WoW is concerned. Exhibit A - My dad. But just the fact that there are people like yourself and Narfett, and Taylor!, and people like me who play but have on numerous occassions (especially during the summers) dropped the game for months at a time kinda makes me doubt that its viper hold is so strong or even akin to brainwashing.

As for the RE4 thing. That's a personal thing about ME. I just suck that way. My children will hate me.

I love how people don't even see the cyclical works at hand here :< That sort of debate happened once before during the old console wars. Like when they had all those -vision systems and the atari was still desireable

They don't. For a lot of people, history, any type of history, only started when they began to pay attention. This is why I have very frustrating conversations with people about politics and wars, and just about everything else... They don't even know what I'm talking about. How dare I bring up something that happened over ten years ago!

As state, my issue has just been that they intentionally jack up the grind to keep you playing. Shiz has a good point about PSO -- you pick up, hack around for a while, and can put down. You don't miss a lot. WoW has the draw though. And yeah, some people will get sucked in, some people will be able to move on. Its just that I'm seeing a draw on WoW unlike anything else, not even EverCrack back when I was in HS. And now its hitting close to home, and it kinda scares me. It may not snag the people resistant to it, but those susceptible seem to fall harder than they should be.

And to be on topic Shiz, I'd just like to see the genre filter out the grind in exchange for more gameplay. Admittedly flawed and limited, I think Guild Wars was on the right track having the levels cap at 20 and limiting your skills to 8 (or 7 + one Elite Skill), where gameplay, teamwork, and build synergy won you the day. But even they fell prey to the Grind Demon in later chapters (damned Titles and Achievements) in lieu of extra content. Its cheaper after all to make players whittle away time in the same area as opposed to making more content to traverse. But further proof that diversity was taking hold even in the later stages of the games -- when I started playing (2-3 weeks after the game launched) around the end of the game if you weren't a Warrior, a Fire/Echo-Nuke Elementalist, or a Heal/Prot Monk, you didn't get into groups. When Factions launched poor Assassins NEVER got invited (granted they're hard to play and were often unintentionally suicidal at that time). Now people have learned how to play properly, and even the neglected classes like Mesmers and Paragons get snatched up fast just for potential, and Mending Ritualists are often taken in lieu of Monks. The players worked out their own issues just by experience.

Also, weigh the amount of time it takes to get to lvl. 99 in KH and level 70 in WoW. I bet one's a lot shorter :P

LOL - most certainly. Though neither is trivial.

On a side-not: The record for reaching level 70, from the moment of character creation, in real-time, is around 39 hours. Granted, that takes a lot of knowledge of the game, and even stockpiled geared purchased earlier... but, damn. I want to be that person who can just generate a character like that, lol. Oh wells, I actually like leveling, and I'm a littled saddened every time I hit the max level.
